On August 24,2005 the Anaheim City Council unanimously approved The Irvine Company's plans to build a community of approximately 2,500 for-sale homes in Mountain Park that will serve as a gateway to vast preserved open spaces on the nearby Irvine Ranch Land Reserve ®.
Prior to any construction work, biologists working under permits issued by the Army Corps of Engineers, Dept. of Fish & Game, and Regional Water Quality Control Board delineated habitat areas on the property. This step was completed in spring 2006. The yellow tape you may see delineates the Mountain Park property line and is not associated with any construction work at this time. Grading for the new community is scheduled to begin later this year.
Transportation Improvements: Planning for the future SR-241 over-crossing is currently underway. The bridge will link the communities on the west side of the 241 to the eastern portion of the project, allowing internal traffic to drive over the toll road. Preliminary design is underway with Cal Trans and the Transportation Corridor Agency. Plans to extend Weir Canyon to SR-241 are also underway.
Sports Park: The public sports park located on the west side of the project is currently under design and review by the city of Anaheim. City officials are meeting with local sports groups seeking input to determine what features are most needed. Construction will be able to begin once the plan is approved and a detailed design is provided.
